History of Tamilnadu Bhavan

Like any other Jains from other part of India, Tamizh Jains lifetime ambition is to visit Shikharji at least once. Tamizh Jains are avid pilgrims and visit many places significant to Jains Kshetra. For many years they have been visiting Shikharji. They managed to travel irrespective of language and culture barriers. They have been staying in different Yatri nivas but were not very comfortable due to big divide between south vs north mainly due to cultural difference. All Yatri Nivas in Shikharji are built and managed by different trusts mainly in North and east India. Representation from South India to these trusts are insignificant.
So, it has been long term need to have a Yatri Nivas which will be built and operating in south Indian style especially Tamizh culture. Pandit Jayapal one of the key trustees who has visited Shikharji more than 100 times felt this need during one of his trips to Shikharji. He has been helping people through structured tours and take them to Shikharji for Darshan. He has Hindi proficiency. Due to his frequent visits to Shikharji he had many contacts and close association with several local people in Shikharji.
During one of peek seasons when he visited, he didn’t get an accommodation in spite of his close connects with locals. He stayed in odd places. That made him to think of investing in a house which can be exclusively used by visitors from Tamizhnadu.
One evening when Sun is withdrawing after an active day light Pandit Jayapal and Shree Ramesh (key person in this project and first land donor) were on pilgrimage site called Bajar Gau in Maharashtra. The vehicle they were travelling stopped about 200 Mtrs from the place of stay and at that time Pandit Jayapal shared his idea of buying a house in Sikarji to mitigate dependency on other accommodation. Shree Ramesh had asked him how much it would cost to buy a land to build a house and Pandit Jayapal estimated it to Rs. 10 Lacs. Shree Ramesh instantaneously agreed to fund the land purchase fully. This is the starting point of idea getting materialized into action. Also, Shree Ramesh suggested to create a common entity which will own this property so that this can be a common property not owned any single or group of individuals.
Under the leadership of Dr Ajeeth Prasad Jain, trustees met at Dr Ajeet Prasad office and then more room donors emerged.

• Ms Sridevi Ramesh – 6 Lacs
• Ms Umadevi Ramesh – 6 Lacs
• Mr C Jeevagan Vasuki – 6 Lacs (Donated in memory of his Parents D Chinnadurai Pattammal)
• Mr L Ashok Rajalakshmi – 6 Lacs (Donated in memory of his Father A D Lakshmi Chandran)

This mega project was completed in a historical speed of 12 months. The building was inaugurated on 5th May and Panchakalyan performed from 5th May to 9th May 2017.
This was performed with blessings of Aharaya Sambhava Sagar Muni Maharaj, Two Bhataraga Swamiji from Tamizhnandu and other dignitaries like Ms Sarita Jain & Mr M K Jain (President of thirthashetra committee), Tara Chand Jain president and Mr Ravikumar IAS.
